TLDR A rare ovarian tumor caused hair loss in a post-menopausal woman, which almost completely stopped after surgery.
The document from 2012 detailed a rare case of a 57-year-old postmenopausal woman who developed androgenic alopecia due to a Sertoli-Leydig cell tumour (SLCT), an uncommon ovarian tumour typically found in younger women aged 20 to 30. The patient exhibited progressive male pattern hair loss and high testosterone levels, which did not respond well to medical therapy. After undergoing a bilateral oophorectomy, histology revealed a benign SLCT in the right ovary. The surgery resulted in an almost complete cure for the patient's hair loss.
