TLDR Phytoconstituents from Cyperus Rotundus may help treat hirsutism by interacting with the 5 α reductase enzyme.
The study investigated the potential of phytoconstituents from Cyperus Rotundus Linn. as treatments for hirsutism by targeting the 5 α reductase enzyme. Using molecular docking analysis, compounds such as cyperene, humulen, β-selinene, campholenic aldehyde, and α-pinene were tested for their binding affinities. Humulen demonstrated the highest binding affinity, while campholenic aldehyde showed the lowest. The study concluded that these phytoconstituents exhibited good interaction with the enzyme, suggesting their potential as anti-androgenic agents. However, further laboratory studies were recommended to validate these computational findings.
