TLDR Teens with PCOS have a higher risk of type 2 diabetes and need regular glucose checks.
The study on adolescents with PCOS revealed a heightened risk for type 2 diabetes, with 8.9% showing impaired glucose metabolism and 5.9% diagnosed with DM2 among 157 patients. Over half exhibited insulin resistance. Ethnicity was a significant predictor of DM2, unlike BMI and family history. The study highlighted the need for vigilant glucose metabolism monitoring in this group.
