TLDR Scalp threading with PDO threads is an effective treatment for male crown baldness.
The pilot study conducted by Abdel Kareem IM, Ibrahim MK, and Mahmoud E. Sherif from Al-Azhar University and Ain Shams University involved 7 male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), specifically crown baldness. The researchers used polydioxanone (PDO) monofilament threads, typically used for facial rejuvenation, and inserted them into the dermal layer of the crown of the scalp. After six months, there was a significant increase in hair regrowth and hair density in the targeted area compared to the baseline. The study concluded that scalp threading with PDO monofilament threads is a straightforward and effective treatment for male patients with crown baldness, providing quick and reassuring outcomes.
