TLDR Scalp seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition linked to oil production and bacteria, with specific diagnostic features and treatments like antifungals and corticosteroids.
Scalp seborrheic dermatitis (SSD) was identified as a common chronic inflammatory skin condition linked to sebum production, bacterial proliferation, and host immunity factors. The condition was associated with specific trichoscopic features such as arborizing vessels and yellowish scales, with new findings like dandelion vascular conglomerate and "cherry blossom" vascular pattern aiding diagnosis. Traditional treatments included antifungals and corticosteroids, though new therapies were also explored. The article reviewed the etiology, pathophysiology, diagnostic features, and treatment options for SSD.
