What Is the Importance of Scalp Health in Pre and Post Hair Transplant Periods? Narrative Literature Review

The narrative review underscores the critical role of scalp health in the success of hair transplantation, especially with the FUE technique, but notes a lack of scientific evidence supporting this. Out of 153 articles, 27 studies were analyzed, with 14 focusing on pre-operative care, 21 on post-operative care, and 9 on both. Current care recommendations largely rely on individual surgeon opinions rather than robust scientific data. The authors call for further research to develop effective protocols and determine the best cosmetic and treatment options for scalp preparation and post-operative care.
