TLDR rTMS may help treat trichotillomania in some patients.
The document presented a case series on the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for treating trichotillomania, involving 5 female patients who underwent 15 rTMS sessions over 3 weeks. Results showed that 3 patients experienced substantial improvement, 1 had partial symptom reduction, and 1 saw a mild increase in severity. The study suggested that rTMS could be a promising treatment for trichotillomania, but emphasized the need for larger, controlled trials to confirm these findings and better understand the long-term efficacy and safety of rTMS for this condition. Limitations included the small sample size and the presence of psychiatric comorbidities.
