April 2024
in “Scientific reports (Nature Publishing Group)”
TLDR Rosemary and neem extract may be an effective natural treatment for dandruff and hair loss.
The study investigated the combined anti-dandruff and anti-hair loss efficacy of rosemary and neem extracts. The combined extract showed significant anti-microbial activity against fungi and bacteria associated with dandruff and hair loss, and also demonstrated strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The extract was formulated into a gel and a leave-in hair tonic, both of which showed good organoleptic properties and were within the normal pH range for the scalp. The gel had a higher viscosity, indicating better retention at the application site. The active ingredients were deposited across different skin layers over 24 hours. The study concludes that the combined rosemary and neem extract could be a promising natural alternative for managing dandruff and hair loss.
