TLDR Stem cell therapy shows promise for treating hair loss.
Autologous stem cell therapy, including techniques like autologous stem cell micrografting and Rigenera®, shows promising potential for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The review highlights that Rigenera® can significantly increase hair density by 29% ± 5% after 6 months. The bulge area of hair follicles is identified as a crucial source of stem cells, and other sources like adipose tissue, bone marrow, and human umbilical cord blood are also considered viable for hair regeneration. The therapy offers benefits such as fewer biopsies, shorter treatment duration, and no restriction on the number of donor follicles compared to surgical interventions. Further investigation is recommended to enhance the treatment efficacy of AGA.
