TLDR Stem cell therapy shows promise for treating hair loss.
Autologous stem cell-based therapy, including techniques like autologous stem cell micrografting and Rigenera®, shows promise as a potential treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). These methods leverage stem cells from sources such as the bulge area, adipose tissue, bone marrow, and human umbilical cord blood to regenerate hair follicles. Rigenera® specifically demonstrated a significant 29% ± 5% increase in hair density after 6 months. This approach could offer advantages over current treatments, including fewer biopsies, shorter treatment durations, and no limitations on donor follicles. Further investigation is recommended to enhance the efficacy of AGA treatments.
