TLDR Understanding different types of hair loss helps in accurate diagnosis and treatment.
The review article examines five types of alopecia, each with unique causes and symptoms. Androgenetic alopecia is hereditary and involves hair thinning due to androgens. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder causing patchy hair loss. Anagen effluvium, often from chemotherapy, leads to rapid but usually reversible hair loss. Telogen effluvium is stress-induced, causing temporary shedding. Traction alopecia results from mechanical stress from hairstyles, potentially causing permanent loss. Understanding these conditions is essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment, which may involve lifestyle changes and medications.
