TLDR Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause reversible hair color loss in children.
A 3-year-old male child with a history of lethargy and hyperpigmentation was diagnosed with Vitamin B12 deficiency, presenting with symptoms including pallor, sparse hypopigmented hair, and angular stomatitis. Blood tests confirmed megaloblastic anemia and low Vitamin B12 levels. Treatment with Vitamin B12 injections and oral supplements, along with dietary adjustments, led to significant improvement in the child's condition, including the normalization of hemoglobin levels and the replacement of hypopigmented hair with dark, healthy hair. This case highlighted the rare occurrence of reversible hypopigmentation of hair due to Vitamin B12 deficiency in children.
