Response to microneedling treatment in men with androgenetic alopecia who failed to respond to conventional therapy

in “Indian Journal of Dermatology”
TLDR Microneedling can effectively promote new hair growth in men with hair loss who didn't improve with traditional treatments.
This document is a case series that examines the use of microneedling as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in men who did not respond to conventional therapy. The study included four men who had been on finasteride and minoxidil for 2 to 5 years without experiencing new hair growth. These men underwent microneedling treatment in addition to their ongoing therapy for 6 months. The results showed that all patients had a positive response, with new hair growth starting after 8-10 sessions. Three patients reported more than 75% satisfaction with their hair growth, while one patient reported more than 50% satisfaction. These results were sustained during the 18-month follow-up period. The study concludes that microneedling can be an effective treatment for promoting new hair growth in men with AGA who do not respond well to conventional therapy.
