TLDR Some IBD patients on anti-TNFs developed severe skin issues, but ustekinumab helped.
In a study of 93 IBD patients treated with anti-TNFs, 6.45% developed severe psoriasiform reactions, necessitating the withdrawal of the treatment. Two patients (2.5%) developed alopecia universalis, with one having a history of alopecia areata, suggesting a potential risk factor. Ustekinumab was found to be an effective alternative for managing these adverse effects. Additionally, a case of molluscum contagiosum was resolved with podophyllin and cessation of immunosuppressive therapy.
