TLDR A 10-year-old girl's symptoms improved after surgery to remove a benign adrenal tumor.
A 10-year-old girl presented with symptoms of virilization, including excessive hair growth, weight gain, and deepening of voice, alongside signs of Cushing syndrome such as obesity and hypertension. Laboratory tests showed elevated cortisol and testosterone levels, and a CT scan revealed a large mass in the right adrenal gland. She underwent a right-sided adrenalectomy, and histopathology confirmed a benign adrenal adenoma. Post-surgery, her symptoms, including clitoromegaly and hirsutism, regressed over several months, and her biochemical parameters normalized within 8 months.
April 2024 in “JCEM case reports” A woman's rare benign tumor that released both cortisol and testosterone was successfully removed, improving her health.
