TLDR A benign skin tumor grew quickly in a dialysis patient and was surgically removed.
A 70-year-old man, who returned to haemodialysis after kidney transplantation, developed a large skin tumor near his arteriovenous fistula 12 months after stopping immunosuppression. The tumor, which grew rapidly within 4 weeks, was surgically excised and diagnosed as a keratoacanthoma, a benign skin tumor originating from epidermal and hair follicle keratinocytes. Despite histological examination, keratoacanthomas were noted to be challenging to diagnose accurately.
