TLDR A benign skin tumor grew quickly in a dialysis patient and was surgically removed.
The article discussed a case of a 70-year-old man who developed a fast-growing skin lesion, identified as a keratoacanthoma, after returning to haemodialysis following kidney transplantation. The lesion appeared near the arteriovenous fistula used for dialysis access and was surgically excised. Keratoacanthomas are benign tumors that can be difficult to distinguish from squamous cell carcinoma, a common skin cancer in transplant patients. Both conditions share risk factors such as UV light and HPV infection. The study highlighted the importance of regular dermatological examinations for patients who have returned to dialysis after transplantation.
