Histomorphological Studies on the Skin of Camel (Camelus Dromedarius) in Bangladesh

    The study examined the histomorphology of the skin in six camels, focusing on nine body areas. The camel skin's epidermis had four layers typical of mammalian skin, while the dermis was composed of collagen, elastic, and reticular fibers, and contained hair follicles, sebaceous and sweat glands, and arrector pili muscles. Hair follicles were distributed singly in the upper lip and clustered in other areas, with tactile hairs and multilobulated sebaceous glands present in the upper lip. Sebaceous glands were simple, branched alveolar glands associated with hair follicles, and each group of secondary hair follicles had its own sebaceous gland unit. Sweat glands were found in areas with large primary hairs but not with small secondary hairs or in the upper lip.
