TLDR Hirsutism moderately affects the quality of life for most women, linked to condition severity.
This study assessed the quality of life in 250 women with hirsutism in Erbil City, Iraq, using the Ferriman-Gallwey score and a modified dermatology life quality index. The findings revealed that over 80% of the participants experienced a moderate impact on their quality of life, which was significantly associated with the severity of their hirsutism. Key issues affecting their lives included feelings of embarrassment and shame, restrictions on outdoor activities, and the financial burden of treatment. The study concludes that the quality of life for more than two-thirds of women with hirsutism is moderately affected, with a clear correlation to the severity of the condition.
