TLDR PRP is a safe natural treatment that improves skin by reducing wrinkles and enhancing texture for up to 4 months.
In a 2014 study, researchers investigated the use of Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for skin rejuvenation. PRP, rich in growth factors, was injected into various skin areas to stimulate regeneration. The procedure required a team including a hematologist, a cosmetic surgeon, and a nurse, and excluded individuals with certain blood disorders. Around 20 ml of the patient's blood was used to produce PRP. The treatment resulted in immediate skin improvements and a reddish erythema that lasted for 2 hours, with benefits such as reduced wrinkle depth and better skin texture observed for up to 4 months. The study found PRP to be a safe and natural method for cosmetic skin enhancement, though it noted the necessity for further research on long-term outcomes.

Key treatments for hair preservation include minoxidil, finasteride/dutasteride, and microneedling, with additional options like specific shampoos, oils, biotin, zinc, tretinoin, clascoterone, and low-level laser therapy. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing stress, and addressing nutrient deficiencies can also support hair health.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
