TLDR Prostate size varies by ethnic group, age, residence, and blood glucose, but not by body measurements or fat.
The study examined prostate volume and its relationship with anthropometric variables among 979 men aged 40 and above from different ethnic groups in South-Kivu, DR Congo. It found significant differences in prostate size, with the Lega group having the largest median prostate volume of 55 cc and the Havu group the smallest at 20 cc. Enlarged prostates were more common in Lega men (91%) compared to Havu men (11%). Prostate volume was significantly linked to age, ethnic group, residence, and fasting blood glucose, but not to anthropometric parameters or body fat composition. The study suggested that genetic factors and cellular composition might influence prostate size, highlighting the need for further research.
