TLDR The prolactin gene polymorphism doesn't affect cashmere quality in these goats.
The study examined the polymorphism of exon V of the prolactin gene in 103 Changthangi Pashmina goats to assess its association with cashmere fiber traits. Three genotypes were identified, but the polymorphism showed no significant association with cashmere quality traits (P>0.05). A single nucleotide polymorphism at position 561 resulted in a silent mutation. The study's findings contradicted previous research by Lan et al. (2009) and highlighted the need for further research with a larger sample size to validate these results.
