TLDR Future hormone therapy trials should match the diverse needs and priorities of the gender-diverse community.
This study aimed to design community-centered effectiveness trials for gender-diverse individuals seeking gender-affirming hormone therapy with estrogen (GAHT-E). A cross-sectional survey with 60 items was distributed to 1270 individuals through social networks. Key treatment goals rated as "extremely important" or "very important" included improved life satisfaction (81%), appearing more feminine (80%), and improved mental health (76%). High-priority body changes were facial hair (85%), breast shape or size (84%), and body shape (80%). The top research priority was comparing feminization with different estrogen administration routes. The study concludes that future GAHT-E trials should align with the diverse needs and priorities of the community.
