TLDR Most women with excessive hair growth (hirsutism) also experience a common type of non-scarring hair loss called Androgenetic alopecia with telogen effluvium.
The research paper studied the prevalence of non-scarring hair loss (alopecia) among over 90 female patients suffering from hirsutism. The study found that the most common type of hair loss associated with hirsutism is Androgenetic alopecia with telogen effluvium, accounting for 55.6% of cases. The most common trichoscopic features found in this type of alopecia were hair shaft heterogeneity (100%), hair follicles with only one hair (74%), peripilar sign (82%), empty hair follicle (96%), upright re-growing hair (92%), and black dots (36%). These findings were present in a lesser ratio in other groups. The study concluded that Androgenetic alopecia with telogen effluvium is the most common non-scarring alopecia associated with hirsutism.
