A Study on the Pre-Treatment Effects of Taraxacum Platycarpum Extract Based Hair Mist in Heat Perming: Focusing on the Reduction of Physical Hair Damage

The study evaluated the protective effects of a hair mist containing Taraxacum platycarpum extract when used before heat perming. The mist (H3) showed superior wave efficiency, tensile strength, and cuticle preservation compared to a base mist (H2) and no pretreatment (H1). H3 achieved the highest wave curling efficacy at 39.51% and demonstrated significant tensile strength recovery, nearly matching the untreated control. Cuticle analysis revealed that H3 maintained a smooth surface similar to the control, while H1 showed severe damage. Methylene blue staining confirmed reduced damage with H3. The findings suggest that the dandelion extract mist effectively protects hair from heat damage, supporting healthy hair and improved styling.
