TLDR Postpartum hair loss can increase anxiety in new mothers.
The study involving 331 postpartum women found a significant association between postpartum hair loss and increased anxiety and stress levels. A high percentage (91.8%) of women experienced hair loss, with 73.1% feeling anxious or stressed about it. Psychological assessments revealed that 28.7% reported anxiety and 33.5% experienced depressed mood. The study identified factors such as primiparity, early delivery weeks, and higher Athens Insomnia Scale scores as predictors of anxiety. The findings emphasize the psychological impact of postpartum hair loss and the need for awareness and support for affected individuals, although the causal relationship remains unclear.
