TLDR Elderly men with a scalp condition healed in about 26 days using specific creams and dressings, with no return of the condition in 6 months.
The document describes a case series of four elderly male patients with an average age of 80, who developed post-traumatic erosive pustular dermatosis of the scalp, characterized by hypergranulation tissue without crusts or pustules, following mechanical trauma. Dermoscopic examination revealed distinctive vascular patterns and scarring. The condition was successfully treated with a combination of topical fusidic acid and betamethasone cream, along with hyaluronic acid wound dressing, resulting in complete healing within an average of 25.7 days and no recurrences over a 6-month period. The study highlights the potential role of skin tension in atrophic and photo-damaged skin as a predisposing factor and underscores the effectiveness of early treatment and the utility of dermoscopy in diagnosis.
