TLDR Laser treatments are the most effective for porokeratotic adnexal ostial nevus.
Porokeratotic adnexal ostial nevus (PAON) was a rare adnexal hamartoma characterized by a cornoid lamella overlying eccrine acrosyringia or both eccrine acrosyringia and hair follicles. The study reviewed clinical and histopathological characteristics, evolution, and treatment of PAON. An 8-year-old boy with bilateral asymptomatic verrucous lesions was followed for 12 years, showing marked improvement after CO2 ablation treatments in 2004 and 2012. Previous cases indicated PAON was mostly unilateral and sometimes associated with other conditions like seizures, scoliosis, and developmental delays. Treatments with tazaroten gel, dithranol, and topical photodynamic therapy were effective, but laser treatments were more efficient for most patients.
