TLDR Polypoid cystitis can mimic bladder cancer but can be effectively treated with surgery, stents, and medication.
A 45-year-old Asian man presented with symptoms mimicking a bladder tumor, which was diagnosed as polypoid cystitis causing bilateral upper tract obstruction. Treatment involved local resection, ureteral dilatation, stenting, and oral steroids, leading to resolution of the obstruction and hydronephrosis. Mixed lower urinary tract symptoms and hematuria were managed with solifenacin, finasteride, and tamsulosin. The case highlighted the importance of considering polypoid cystitis in differential diagnoses of bladder tumors and the effectiveness of a combined treatment approach.
