TLDR A bladder rupture from prostate treatment was healed with catheterization and antibiotics.
A 55-year-old man with benign prostatic hyperplasia developed an extraperitoneal bladder perforation following transurethral vaporisation of the prostate (TUVP). This condition was identified through CT imaging, which showed perivesical contrast extravasation. The patient was treated conservatively with catheterization and antibiotics, leading to complete healing. Bladder ruptures are often trauma-related and can be classified as extraperitoneal or intraperitoneal, with different management strategies. Extraperitoneal ruptures, like in this case, are typically managed with catheterization, while intraperitoneal ruptures require surgical intervention. Accurate imaging is crucial for diagnosis and treatment planning.
