TLDR The polyherbal shampoo effectively treats dandruff and is a safe, natural option.
The study focused on developing a polyherbal shampoo using hydro alcoholic extracts of Nimba, Karanja, Methika, and infusions of Sathala, Japa, and Arishtaka to manage dandruff. The shampoo was evaluated for its physicochemical, analytical, and antifungal properties. Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of beneficial compounds like flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, and phytosterols. SEM analysis indicated that the shampoo maintained smooth and intact hair cuticles, suggesting protective and conditioning effects. In vitro antifungal tests showed inhibition zones of 13 mm against Malassezia furfur and 15 mm against M. globosa, demonstrating the shampoo's effective antifungal properties. The results support the use of this polyherbal shampoo as a safe, natural alternative for dandruff management.
