TLDR The herbal shampoo with Harsinghar works better against dandruff than a commercial product.
The study developed a polyherbal shampoo powder using Harsinghar (Nyctanthes arbortristis) as the main active ingredient, aiming to combat dandruff. The formulation included additional herbs like Kantakari, Amla, and Shikakai, and was evaluated for various properties such as pH, foaming index, and anti-dandruff efficacy. The results showed that the herbal shampoo had a pH of 5.46, a foaming index of 111.1%, and significant anti-dandruff activity, outperforming a commercial medicated product in the zone of inhibition test against Malassezia. The shampoo also provided good conditioning for different hair types and demonstrated favorable physicochemical characteristics, indicating its potential as an effective anti-dandruff treatment.
