TLDR Polygenic Score can help predict severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
This study investigated the role of Polygenic Score (PGS) in predicting psoriasis severity and psoriatic arthritis among 1,104 psoriasis patients from the Taiwan Precision Medicine Initiative. The research found that individuals in the highest quartile of specific PGS (PGS002293 and PGS001313) had a higher prevalence of psoriatic arthritis and required more treatment with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, indicating severe psoriasis. Multivariate analysis showed that PGS002293-Q4 was significantly associated with severe psoriasis, with an adjusted odds ratio of 2.11. The findings suggest that PGS can be a valuable tool in predicting severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, supporting the use of genetic testing for personalized prevention strategies.
