TLDR Nepenthes kampotiana has unique plant features and contains various beneficial compounds.
The study investigates the plant characteristics and preliminary phytochemical composition of Nepenthes kampotiana, a plant traditionally used for treating ailments like hepatitis and urethral stones. The research, conducted on samples collected from Bác Ái, Ninh Thuận in September 2023, describes the plant's morphology, including its bushy, upright stem and modified leaves that form pitchers for trapping prey. Anatomical analysis reveals a well-developed secondary root structure and a stem with a circular arrangement of vascular bundles. The leaves contain circularly arranged vascular bundles in the veins. Phytochemical analysis identifies compounds such as essential oils, free triterpenoids, antraglycosides, flavonoids, anthocyanosides, proanthocyanidins, tannins, saponins, reducing substances, and polyuronides. The study provides valuable data on the botanical and chemical properties of Nepenthes kampotiana.
