Review on Phytochemical Composition and Pharmacological Activities of Some Selected Gymnosperms

    Kiran Puttegowda, Chanchal Malhotra
TLDR Selected gymnosperms have medicinal potential due to their beneficial plant compounds.
This review highlights the medicinal potential of selected gymnosperms, including Platycladus orientalis, Araucaria heterophylla, Cycas revoluta, Thuja occidentalis, and Juniperus virginiana. Gymnosperms, known for their therapeutic significance, have been used in various medical systems such as contemporary, folk, and traditional medicine. The review emphasizes the importance of phytochemicals, naturally occurring compounds in plants, which are gaining attention for their applications in medicine and drug development. The study encourages further phytochemical investigations to discover new bioactive molecules with greater efficacy and fewer side effects than current drugs.
