TLDR Photobiomodulation effectively treats hair loss in dogs with black hair follicular dysplasia.
Photobiomodulation was used to treat a canine patient with non-inflammatory alopecia, specifically black hair follicular dysplasia, at a veterinary clinic in Espírito Santo. The treatment involved the use of red light at 2 joules to stimulate follicular growth, and blue and green light to enhance coat shine, softness, and skin hydration, with one session per week. The dog began to show hair regrowth after the first session and experienced total improvement after five sessions. The study concludes that photobiomodulation is an effective, fast, non-invasive, and practical treatment for follicular growth in dogs with alopecia, when the appropriate protocol is followed.
