TLDR Dandruff does not significantly affect androgenic alopecia.
The study aimed to compare the incidence of androgenic alopecia with and without dandruff (Pityriasis sicca) and was conducted using a descriptive observational case-control method with a retrospective approach at Universitas Muslim Indonesia. It involved 24 samples and found no significant impact of dandruff on androgenic alopecia. The study concluded that the most common age group for androgenic alopecia was 41-50 years, with 9 samples (37.5%). Alopecia without dandruff was more prevalent, with 17 samples (70.8%).
