TLDR Topical creams are commonly used for treating non-infective skin diseases in children, with antifungals being the most prescribed.
The study assessed prescription patterns for pediatric skin diseases in 120 patients at a dermatology outpatient department in Bengaluru, India. It found a higher prevalence of non-infective skin diseases (46.67%) compared to infective ones (36.30%). The most common treatment route was topical (69%), with creams being the most frequently used form (36.6%). Antifungals were the most prescribed drug category, with fluconazole and ketoconazole being the most common oral and topical antifungals, respectively. The study highlighted a preference for monotherapy over combination therapy and noted that many prescribed topical drugs were not listed in the NLEM 2022. The findings underscore the complexity of treating pediatric dermatological conditions and the variety of drugs used.

Ketoconazole 2% shampoo stopped a user's severe hair shedding after just two uses, a result not achieved by finasteride or oral minoxidil. Some users suggest the shampoo's anti-androgenic properties may help with hair loss, while others think the shedding might have stopped naturally or due to the end of a shedding phase.
