TLDR Resveratrol improved hormone levels, menstrual cycles, hair loss, and ovarian function in PCOS patients.
The study investigated the effects of resveratrol on 104 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), dividing them into a study group and a control group, each with 52 patients. The study group received 1000 mg of pure resveratrol daily, while the control group received a placebo. After 3 months, the study group showed significant improvements in ovarian size, endometrial thickness, and the number of sinus follicles compared to the control group. Additionally, the study group experienced better menstrual cycle regularity and less hair loss. The treatment also resulted in lower levels of luteinizing hormone, estradiol, and testosterone in the study group, although follicle-stimulating hormone levels were unaffected. The expression level of mitofusin-2 was significantly higher in the study group post-treatment. Overall, resveratrol was found to improve sex hormone levels, menstrual irregularities, hair loss, and ovarian function in PCOS patients.
