TLDR PCOS is common among female health science students, linked to hormonal issues and family history, and early diagnosis is important.
The study found a moderately high prevalence of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) among female university students of health sciences in a Middle Eastern country. Significant associations with PCOS included hyperprolactinemia, menstrual irregularities, family history of PCOS, hirsutism, and baldness. The study suggests that increasing awareness and promoting early diagnosis could help reduce the burden of PCOS in this population, and future research could explore the effects of these interventions.
