Prevalence of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Among Reproductive Females in Padgampora Village of Pulwama, J&K, India

The study conducted in Padgampora Village, Pulwama, J&K, aimed to determine the prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) among 40 reproductive females aged 15-45. It found that 42.5% of participants with PCOS were aged 15-25. Common clinical manifestations included irregular menstrual cycles (47.5%), obesity (52.5%), acne (32.5%), hirsutism (27.5%), alopecia (7.5%), infertility (5%), and depression (17.5%). The study concluded that increasing awareness, especially among younger females, about PCOS, its early diagnosis, and prevention could help reduce long-term health complications.
