TLDR Early diagnosis and treatment of PCOS can prevent complications and improve symptoms.
The document is a case study of a 25-year-old woman with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), an endocrine disorder with a prevalence rate of 1.6% to 18% in the USA and 3.7% to 22.5% in India. The woman experienced symptoms such as irregular periods, hirsutism, weight gain, acne, and stress, and was diagnosed with PCOS through hormonal assessments and ultrasonography. Treatment with oral contraceptives and Myo-Inositol led to normalized menstrual cycles and the resolution of most symptoms. The study underscores the necessity of timely diagnosis and treatment of PCOS to avert serious complications like infertility, metabolic syndrome, and psychological issues, and highlights the condition's complex pathophysiology involving hormonal imbalances and insulin resistance.
