TLDR Large prostate links to more hair loss, but age of onset doesn't affect it.
A study from 18 years ago found that patients with a larger prostate gland have a higher prevalence of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) than those with a smaller prostate. However, there was no significant correlation between the age of onset of AGA and the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The study also noted that while androgens play a role in both AGA and BPH, the response of the hair follicle and prostate to androgens is different. Finasteride, a medication used to treat AGA and BPH, was found to be effective in treating both conditions. Further studies are needed to determine if early-onset severe AGA predisposes to BPH or prostate cancer.
