TLDR ABHRS surgeons got higher ratings on Healthgrades and lower on Yelp compared to nonsurgeons, with training affecting satisfaction differently across platforms.
The study analyzed 86 ABHRS-certified surgeons' patient satisfaction through reviews on Healthgrades.com and Yelp.com, finding that surgeons generally received higher ratings on Healthgrades (average 4.63) than nonsurgeons (average 3.77), but lower on Yelp (average 4.11 vs 4.31 for nonsurgeons). A total of 567 five-star and 59 one-star reviews were examined, highlighting the importance of procedure results, office staff, bedside manner, comfort during the procedure, and cost/financing in patient satisfaction. The study concluded that residency training background impacts patient satisfaction ratings, but inconsistently across different platforms. It suggested that understanding review drivers could help improve patient satisfaction, despite the limitations of online review validity and the subjective nature of the data.
