TLDR Oxidative stress may contribute to hair loss in Egyptian men.
The study assessed the expression of NRF2 in the scalps of 28 Egyptian men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) compared to 28 healthy controls. Results indicated that alterations in NRF2 levels might play a significant role in the pathogenesis of AGA. The majority of AGA patients had a positive family history of the condition, and none had systemic diseases like diabetes or hypertension. This suggests that oxidative stress, as indicated by NRF2 levels, could be a contributing factor to AGA.
