TLDR Organic and biogenic nanocarriers can improve drug delivery but face challenges like consistency and safety.
The review discusses the use of organic and biogenic nanocarriers (OBNs) for delivering bioactive compounds. These nanocarriers, which can be naturally sourced or synthesized, include lipids, proteins, polysaccharides, nucleic acids, antibodies, peptides, enzymes, flavonoids, polyphenols, essential oils, plant extracts, natural pigments, and vitamins. They enhance the stability, release characteristics, biocompatibility, and targeted drug delivery of the nanocarriers. The document also highlights the use of polymeric nanoparticles, carbon-based nanomaterials, lipid-based nanocarriers, and nanocarriers derived from animal proteins, plant proteins, and polysaccharides. The paper also discusses the use of living cells and cell derivatives for drug delivery. Despite their potential, challenges exist in developing OBNs, including reproducibility, consistency, cost-effectiveness, biocompatibility, toxicity, control over physicochemical properties, stability, limited loading capacity, biodegradation variability, formulation complexity, low drug loading efficiency, limited targeting efficiency, regulatory challenges, and lack of standardization.

Topical 2-deoxy-D-ribose (2dDR) regrows hair in mice almost as well as 2% Minoxidil. However, 2dDR may contribute to oxidative stress and hair loss due to the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs).

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

community Fats on your Head to Stop Hair Loss?

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.
