The study focused on optimizing the ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) of total saponins from Eclipta prostrasta L., a plant with known medicinal properties, using response surface methodology (RSM). The optimal conditions determined for the extraction process were 70% ethanol concentration, 70 °C temperature, 3 hours extraction time, and a 14:1 liquid/solid ratio, which resulted in a saponin yield of 2.096%. The study validated the mathematical model used for optimization through triplicate experiments, confirming its accuracy and efficiency for predicting saponin yield. The findings suggest that the optimized UAE technique could be beneficial for industries utilizing E. prostrasta, and further research on extraction, separation, and purification of plant saponins from this herb is recommended.
