TLDR PRP therapy significantly improves hair thickness and density in male pattern baldness.
A 6-month pilot study on 30 male participants with AGA Grades III-VII found that PRP therapy significantly increased hair diameter and density. Hair diameter rose from 0.055 mm to 0.075 mm (39.85% improvement), and hair density increased from 6.13 to 8.43 hairs per 10 mm² (39.73% improvement). Grade 5 showed the highest diameter increase, and Grade 4A had the highest density increase. Patients with alopecia durations up to five years experienced the most significant improvements. The study concludes that PRP therapy is effective across all AGA grades and durations, warranting further research to establish it as a standard treatment.
