TLDR Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common, hereditary hair loss condition that can be slowed but not permanently reversed with available therapies.
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most prevalent form of hair loss, characterized by the transformation of terminal hairs into thin vellus hairs due to androgen-dependent events. It is a hereditary condition with distinct patterns of balding in males and females. As of 2017, there was no permanent reversal for AGA, but several therapies were available to slow and potentially reverse the progression of hair loss.
