TLDR Higher SFRP-4 levels were found in people without a diabetic family history.
The study compared serum levels of secreted frizzled related protein-4 (SFRP-4), insulin resistance, and waist-to-height ratio in 80 individuals with normal glucose tolerance, examining correlations with family history of diabetes. Results showed that individuals without a diabetic background had significantly higher SFRP-4 levels (p=0.02). Although those with a family history of diabetes had higher mean fasting glucose, waist circumference, and waist-to-height ratio, these differences were not statistically significant (p>0.05). A strong positive correlation was found between waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio, fasting insulin, and insulin resistance (p=0.0001), but no significant correlation was observed between diabetic background and SFRP-4, insulin resistance, or waist-to-height ratio (p>0.05).
