TLDR PDO threads are effective and safe for non-surgical hair restoration.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of polydioxanone (PDO) monofilament threads for non-surgical hair restoration in 10 male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) who did not respond to Minoxidil and oral Finasteride. After 12 weeks of treatment, the average trichoscopy hair count in a fixed 1 cm² area improved from 28.90 to 55.40, representing a 47.83% increase, which was statistically significant (p-value <0.05). Patient satisfaction averaged 7.2 out of 10. Minimal side effects, such as pain and swelling, were noted in two patients. The study concludes that PDO threads are an effective and safe treatment for AGA, though further research is needed to understand the mechanisms and optimize protocols.
