TLDR A shampoo with teak leaf extract and coconut oil can significantly boost hair growth and reduce hair loss.
The study investigates the effectiveness of a non-SLS shampoo containing teak leaf extract (Tectona grandis) and virgin coconut oil (VCO) in treating hair loss and promoting hair growth. Conducted on mice over 21 days, the study involved 4 groups, including a control and 3 treatment groups with varying concentrations of teak leaf extract and VCO. The results indicated that the shampoo formula with 2.5% teak leaf extract and 0.30% VCO (P3) significantly increased hair growth rates. The study supports the potential of this shampoo formulation to enhance hair growth and reduce hair loss by inhibiting steroid 5-α reductase and Interleukin-1 Beta, both of which negatively impact hair growth.
